Gregans Castle Hotel ...

Exterior
Gregans Castle Hotel of Ballyvaughan Co. Clare is an award winning Hotel. Among it many honours are the The Georgina Campbell Hideaway of The Year Award 2007 and The AA Courtesy and Care Award for 2006. The AA Courtesy and Care Award is one of the most sought after in the industry, and is bestowed in recognition of the superb standard of hospitality and facilities at the Ballyvaughan Hotel. “The AA Courtesy and Care Award is about the owners and staff whose devotion and passion give Ireland such a wonderful product to offer the world. Gregans Castle is a magical place where the setting is beautiful and the staff have all of those qualities”.

The privately owned original Gregans Castle, an attractive towerhouse of the 15/16th century, is across the road from the hotel. This tower house was the former residence of the chief of the Loghlens, Prince of Burren. Up to the end of the 16th century the Burren was known as the Barony of Gragans.

Simon and Freddie Haden are the proprietors of this family owned and operated Hotel. They and their team are warm and generous hosts and deservedly enjoy a very high level of repeat business. The standards of Guest Care are very high throughout the hotel and compliment the lovely setting at the foot of the Corkscrew Hill in the Burren.

The hotel was built in 1750 and was recently remodelled in 2006. It now contains a relaxed and informal bar, a warmly decorated dining room and an elegant drawing room reserved for hotel residents. The hotel prides itself on only the best in guest services and satisfaction. When staying at this hotel you are assured Irish hospitality, good food - from excellent local organic produce, and peace and quiet.

All bedrooms are individually and elegantly decorated without the intrusion of televisions. The superior rooms and suites are particularly spacious and graceful and are specially recommended. Some of these are at the ground floor level.

A garden sensitively borrowed from the landscape and the surrounding rural setting and shows a peaceful co existence with nature. Giving breathtaking views across Galway Bay and the visually surprising and unique Burren limestone landscape Gregans Castle Hotel is the ultimate hideaway.

Lahinch, Doonbeg and Gort Golf Clubs and The Cliffs of Moher are all nearby. Local pubs are famous for the traditional Irish music. The Burren is an excellent location for walking and cycling and has many interesting marked routes. Gregans Castle also caters for special events such as small weddings and parties. Both Shannon and Galway Airports are within an hour of the hotel. We are situated halfway between Kerry and Connemara.

Come and stay with us and enjoy one of the best kept secrets in Co. Clare and indeed the West of Ireland.
